About us
We work with a collection of computational tools for geometry. Initially developed for rationalization of building structures within the engineering and built environments, we make use of these tools to solve larger and more generic challenges of geometry generation.
Implementation of neural networks for interpolation of geometry, and other toolsets from the field of computer vision and artificial intelligence, are within our latest agenda.
Background
Maria Eugenia Villafañe is a computational geometry designer based in London, UK. Currently a PhD candidate at a project jointly conducted by Imperial College London and The National Gallery London, her research on image processing for the arts focuses on using mutual information as a metric for alignment of multimodal images of Old Masters Paintings. This project forms part of the agenda of the research group led by Prof. Pier Luigi Dragotti (ICL) and Dr. Catherine Higgitt (NG).
Maria’s skillset comprises coding for rationalization of complex geometries, having collaborated with Prof. Chris J.K. Williams for research in Gridshells at Atelier One. Together with Jaime De Miguel, in 2018 she directed "Deep Form Finding", a workshop on interpolation of geometry, held at AAG conference (Advances in Architectural Geometry) in Gothemburg, Sweden.
Jaime de Miguel is a PhD candidate in Computer Science & AI, and lecturer in Data Visualization at the Data Science and Big Data master program of the University of Seville. He holds a background in Architecture and Design with a master degree from the Architectural Association in London, and has developed a keen interest in computational modeling ever since. Jaime is responsible for leading the design of the Sequential Roof project of the ETH Zurich under Gramazio & Kohler and among other initiatives, Jaime is co-founder of AiCare, combining IoT and AI to give motor insurance companies the most accurate risk assessment of their policyholders. He is also founder of FORMA, an interdisciplinary workshop for complex systems modelling in humanities, introducing agent based simulations to a large community of researchers in Andalusian Universities.
